REVIEW: NUTS BY ALICE CLAYTON!!

Title: Nuts
Author: Alice Clayton
Release Date: AVAILABLE NOW!!

SYNOPSIS:
The New York Times bestselling author of Wallbanger and Rusty Nailed is back with Nuts, the first in a brand new series set in New York’s beautiful Hudson Valley.
Roxie Callahan is a private chef to some of Hollywood’s wealthiest, and nastiest, calorie-counting wives. After a dairy disaster implodes her carefully crafted career in one fell ploop, she finds herself back home in upstate New York, bailing out her hippie mother and running the family diner.
When gorgeous local farmer Leo Maxwell delivers her a lovely bunch of organic walnuts, Roxie wonders if a summer back home isn’t such a bad idea after all. Leo is heavily involved in the sustainable slow food movement, and he likes to take his time. In all things. Roxie is determined to head back to the west coast as soon as summer ends, but will the pull of lazy fireflies and her very own Almanzo Wilder be enough to keep her home for good?
Salty. Spicy. Sweet. Nuts. Go on, grab a handful

Nuts is a delicious multi-course meal, it's layers of flavor building and bursting. Alice Clayton sliced and diced my heart with this sweet story about a dream-chasing small town girl and the local farmer who charms her into rethinking everything she'd once been so certain of. Roxie Callahan is the perfect blend of salty and sweet. As the daughter of a flighty mother, the independent chef to the rich and famous must return home to the Hudson Valley to run the family owned diner while her mother leaves on another whim. It's there that Leo Maxwell and his nuts flip her world upside down.

As a Hudson Valley resident myself, I just have to express my appreciation for the author's authentic descriptions of our overlooked, unappreciated area. It's so refreshing and unexpected when someone recognizes that above the city of New York is an entire state of old country roads, small towns, mountains, beautiful farmlands, and some of the most stunning scenery in the country. Alice Clayton really nailed it, bringing to life the charm and feel of the people, the location, and all the deliciousness the Hudson Valley has to offer.

Far more than a decadent,  rich romance, this story is about taking a breath and enjoying the flavors of life that we often are too busy, too consumed to appreciate. The deliciousness of a slice of cake.  A summer romance. The charm of a small town. The smell of garlic in a sizzling pan. The history behind an old wooden spoon. The beauty of a delicate, freshly laid egg. It's a breath of fresh air, this book. Nuts is a "curl up and get lost" feel-good comfort read full of descriptive detail, charm and lush romance.

From start to delicious finish, Nuts was a recipe for perfection. Alice Clayton has cooked up a sweet and spicy story full of sharp wit, heart-warming characters and the perfect amount of steam. With just the right amount of laugh out loud moments, a pinch of witty banter, a dollop of sexy innuendo and a layered plot peppered perfectly with angst and drama, Nuts is both rare and well-done. I loved every morsel of this tasty treat from Alice Clayton and I look forward to a second helping.

Jessica's Rating:

ALICE CLAYTON worked in the cosmetics industry for over a decade before picking up a pen (read laptop).

She enjoys gardening but not weeding, baking but not cleaning up, and finally convinced her long-time boyfriend to marry her.

Now, about that Bernese Mountain dog.
