To make matters worse, she’s nursing a broken heart thanks to the end of her longtime relationship. Wild rebound sex is definitely not the solution to her problems, but gorgeous hockey star Dean Di-Laurentis is impossible to resist. Just once, though, because even if her future is uncertain, it sure as heck won’t include the king of one-night stands. It’ll take more than flashy moves to win her overDean always gets what he wants. Girls, grades, girls, recognition, girls…he’s a ladies man, all right, and he’s yet to meet a woman who’s immune to his charms. Until Allie. For one night, the feisty blonde rocked his entire world—and now she wants to be friends? Nope. It’s not over until he says it’s over. Dean is in full-on pursuit, but when life-rocking changes strike, he starts to wonder if maybe it’s time to stop focusing on scoring…and shoot for love.
I LOVE this series. It's one of my FAVORITE NA Sports Romance Series to date. With characters that make you smile, stories that are both fun and sexy, and emotion's that run the gamut from swoony flutters to down right heart ache, it's a win win all around. And I find that with each installment I grow more and more attached to these characters. I simply never want them to end.
Between Garrett, Logan, and now Dean, I've fallen in love. I adore these boys and I LOVE that we get to see each of them in all the books. To say it rocks is an understatement.
Dean is the resident bad boy of the group. With his devil may care attitude, he's seemingly carefree. As Briar University's unabashed manwhore, he lives by his own set of rules--the life of Dean, according to him--and he loves it.
Emotionally Dean comes across as detached--at least to me he did. I mean, sure he loves and cares about his friends, but he never really gives 100% of himself. He seems skate by, giving what's needed, but never going the extra mile. He most certainly doesn't do relationships. Has no intention of ever going there. At times he comes across as a douche, to be frank. BUT under all that bravado, is an incredibly sweet man with a heart of pure gold.
Allie Haye's is Hannah's roommate--Garrett's GF from The Deal. After a particularly bad break up to her long time love, she's desperate for sometime to regroup and move on. But unfortunately Sean, the ex, is not quite over Allie and is not letting her go peacefully. He wants to make up and he's ready to do anything he needs to make that happen.
With Hannah and Garrett gone for some weekend fun, Allie's left to fend for herself and she desperately needs an escape plan to avoid Sean. Somehow (Hahahaha! Sorry, I can't help but laugh) she ends up sharing a room with Dean and well.... **giggles**
This story is about two people hooking up-- one on the rebound, the other just doing what he wants. But what's simply a hookup at first eventually turns into a really heart tugging friendship between to connected souls. It's sweet and endearing, heart felt and super sexy.
Dean's one kinky, dirty man, and Allie is his perfect partner in crime.
I really loved the pacing of the novel, the way the relationship slowly built and blossomed between the two of them. I liked watching Allie as she peeled back Deans layers, exposing the gentle, delicious man beneath. And I really LOVED watching Dean fall slowly for Allie, realizing that he wanted more for himself and for his life.
Again, I love these characters. And I LOVE this series. There's really nothing to say except this installment was fantastic and I'm really eager for Tucker's book.
The Score can be read as a standalone, though I don't recommend doing that. It's not that you can't, it's just that Deans book is so much better once you've read The Deal and The Mistake first.
These characters are so refreshing. They're so real. And their stories are really perfect. I think you'll love them. I did. It's impossible not to.
Briar hockey player, Dean Heyward-Di Laurentis, and drama student, Allie Hayes, are part of the same circle of friends. Their mutual friends and roommates fell in love in previous books in this series. Allie knows Dean as the team manwhore, Allie is pretty much off Dean's radar completely... until a random encounter kick starts a perfectly messy friends with benefits arrangement. These characters are magnetic all by themselves. Through their alternating first person points of view, I connected with them both completely and immediately. I LOVED THEM. But together, their chemistry is explosive. This book made my insides scream. I had a visceral need to see this story evolve, yet I NEVER wanted it to end. I won't get into plot details, but I'll just say that this book delivers every single thing I crave in a really great NA romance... believability, authentic dialogue, a fluid plot rife with angst and a slow burn, fiercely magnetic characters and stellar writing. It's the perfect package.
The Score is, hands down, my favorite book in this series. Elle Kennedy upped her game in every aspect of the crafting of this book... the story telling, the character development, the layering of this fluid plot, the exquisite writing style, the build and timing... all of it, just top notch. I've thoroughly enjoyed every book in this sports romance series, but The Score just blew me away, captivated me from the very beginning, consumed me until the very last page.
I've been reading new adult college romances pretty consistently for the last 3 or 4 years. Only a handful of those books have given me that quintessential giddy high, that rush you get when a book hits all the right spots, that feeling of being drugged in a state of romance euphoria. This book is now up there with the others that have given me that rush, the ones I always go back to for a reread when I want to feel all those feels. The Score scored BIG. With its laugh-out-loud moments, it's unbelievably heartbreaking curve balls, the mounting sexual tension and inevitable melt-your-panties encounters, the reluctant romance, the steadfast friendships, the growth of these magnetic characters, all seamlessly woven together with Elle Kennedy's addictive writing that seems to get stronger with each subsequent book she writes. The Score is a win.
