I remember the lights.
I remember I wanted to photograph them, the way the red and blue splashed across his cold, emotionless face. But I knew even if my feet could move from the place where they had cemented themselves to the ground and I could run for my camera, I wouldn’t be able to capture that moment.
I had trusted him, I had loved him, and even though my body had changed that summer, he’d made sure to help me hold on to who I was inside, regardless of how the exterior altered.
But then everything changed.
He stole my innocence. He scarred my heart. He took everything I thought I knew about my life and fast-pitched it out the window, shattering the glass that held my world together in the process.
I remember the lights.
The passionate, desperate, hot strikes of red. The harsh, cruel, icy bolts of blue.
They symbolized everything I endured that summer.
And everything I would never face again.
"The heat I felt when Roads touched me —when he kissed me —was the best sensation. It was white hot and electrifying. It seared my skin and blazed through every inch of my body. It burned me. It scarred me."

Yep. The hardest.

I've gone over it a thousand times. It's driving me CRAZY. I want it to be perfect because Weightless was... God, it was rife with emotion so intense I felt it everywhere. It's a book that is LUSH with FEEELLLLSSSSSS. It has heart and soul. It's more than perfect and I more than loved it. I know there are a million books out there for you to choose. There is no shortage of selection these days. It makes writing a review and getting people to actually listen challenging.

BUT I WANT YOU TO READ THIS BOOK! I want you to give this angsty, wholly intense, steamy, wonderfully written, and emotionally explosive standalone a chance.

It left me BREATHLESS.

Kandi Steiner is really a "new(ish)" to me author. Previously, I had read the first installment in her PSU series. And although I liked it, I didn't go crazy for it. That said, when I picked up Weightless I went into it with a simmering curiosity.

That blurb is POWERFUL and utterly INTRIGUING. It almost has a haunting quality to it. And combined with that BEAUTIFUL cover, it SCREAMED feelllsss

And I'll tell you this... Weightless delivered in EVERY WAY! From the FIRST page it hooked me. I literally ached within 10%! The writing is flawless. The quotes, beautiful and hypnotic.

Kandi Steiner has RAW talent. And I really think she's someone you need to pay attention to. You can tell she took time when writing this story. No stone was left unturned. I was impressed by not only the depth, but by the way the story unfolded with an almost aching intensity. It was a riveting, seamless, and it flowed chapter to chapter without a single hiccup. Not only that, it had an undeniable sexiness that felt real and authentic.

I keep saying Weightless is a coming of age story. And I really think it is. Natalie has just graduated high school, she's undecided on what she really wants to do with her life. On top of that, she's experiencing her very FIRST heart break. Her boyfriend of years has just dumped her. He's now dating some other girl that is her complete opposite. Natalie has always been confident in herself and in her relationship. She's always thought she was well liked. It isn't until this breakup that she zeros in on the world around her and see's the shift in people.

She feels ostracized and is treated badly which brings her to the startling reality that she's uncomfortable in her own body. She's mortified with her weight. People see her as the privileged fat girl. And that, along with the realization that her "friends" were only there because of Mason and her family's status, is rough.

After several "moments" for our heroine, Rhodes enters the picture as Natalie's trainer. And that's when things begin to change in more than one way.

Natalie is so many of us. I not only loved her but I related to her weight struggle. I understood what it felt like when she was floundering on her path to nowhere. She had no idea who she was, what she wanted, and I got that on so many levels.

Rhodes is broody and temperamental. Our hero has his own set of complicated issues. Yet that darkness is utterly DIVINE and had my blood burning red hot. The chemistry between him and Natalie is INSTANT. It's down right electric. These two have a connection that translated viscerally on the page.

“What are you afraid of, Natalie?” He asked, his voice just above a whisper as he repeated the question I’d asked the first time he set foot in my room. It felt heavier this time. Everything with Rhodes felt heavier.
“Loving you.”

Weightless has tons of twists and turns. Some you won't see coming. Things are not always what they may seem. It'll keep you on the edge of your seat. It has an element of mystery and suspense.

Overall, I really thought Kandi brought her A game, delivering a complex, compelling, deeply emotional romance that held my attention from start to finish. I can't say enough good things. I never wanted it to end. I really hope you read this impeccably written book. It was 5 star perfection. Simply phenomenal.

Angie's Rating:

“I just don’t understand,” he said as he began rolling the ball up my calf. I moaned out loud, realizing that area was packed with trigger points, as he had called them.

“Don’t understand what?” I asked, still holding my breath as he rolled over my other calf. I leaned up on my elbows and turned my head back to meet his eyes.

He paused, holding the ball in place as he gazed back at me. “How could I never have noticed you before?”

I swallowed, almost more afraid of the brief tenderness I caught in his eyes in that moment than the usual hardness that existed there.

Shrugging, I answered his question just above a whisper. “I’m easy to miss.”

I held his eyes for a moment more before laying my chest back to the ground, resting my head on my arms. He started rolling the ball up my hamstrings and I closed my eyes tight. I thought I might explode from the mixture of pain and pleasure that rocked through my body. After a few moments, he spoke again.

“Maybe I just wasn’t looking."

Kandi Steiner is a Creative Writing and Advertising/Public Relations graduate from the University of Central Florida living in Tampa with her husband. Kandi works full time as a social media specialist, but also works part time as a Zumba fitness instructor and blackjack dealer.

Kandi started writing back in the 4th grade after reading the first Harry Potter installment. In 6th grade, she wrote and edited her own newspaper and distributed to her classmates. Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her "freedom of press." She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a die hard hopeless romantic (like most girls brought up on Disney movies).

When Kandi isn't working or writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, talking with her extremely vocal cat, and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoys beach days, movie marathons, live music, craft beer and sweet wine - not necessarily in that order.
