Title: A Love Letter to Whiskey
Series: Standalone
Author: Kandi Steiner
Release Date: October 13, 2016

It’s crazy how fast the buzz comes back after you’ve been sober for so long.
Whiskey stood there, on my doorstep, just like he had one year before. Except this time, there was no rain, no anger, no wedding invitation — it was just us.
It was just him — the old friend, the easy smile, the twisted solace wrapped in a glittering bottle.
It was just me — the alcoholic, pretending like I didn’t want to taste him, realizing too quickly that months of being clean didn’t make me crave him any less.
But we can’t start here.
No, to tell this story right, we need to go back.
Back to the beginning.
Back to the very first drop.
This is my love letter to Whiskey. I only hope he reads it.
The first time I tasted Whiskey, I fell flat on my face.

I was drunk from the very first sip, and I guess that should have been my sign to stay away.

Jenna and I were running the trail around the lake near her house, sweat dripping into our eyes from the intense South Florida heat. It was early September, but in South Florida, it might as well have been July. There was no “boots and scarves” season, unless you counted the approximately six weeks in January and February where the temperature dropped below eighty degrees.

As it was, we were battling ninety-plus degrees, me trying to be a show off and prove I could keep up with Jenna’s cheerleading training program. She had finally made the varsity squad, and with that privilege came ridiculous standards she had to uphold. I hated running — absolutely loathed it. I would much rather have been on my surf board that day. But fortunately for Jenna, she had a competitive best friend who never turned down a challenge. So when she asked me to train with her, I’d agreed eagerly, even knowing I’d have screaming ribs and calves by the end of the day.

I saw him first.

I was just a few steps ahead of Jenna, and I’d been staring down at my hot pink sneakers as they hit the concrete. When I looked up, he was about fifty feet away, and even from that distance I could tell I was in trouble. He seemed sort of average at first — brown hair, lean build, soaked white running shirt — but the closer he got, the more I realized just how edible he was. I noticed the shift in the muscles of his legs as he ran, the way his hair bounced slightly, how he pressed his lips together in concentration as he neared us.

I looked over my shoulder, attempting to waggle my eyebrows at Jenna and give her the secret best friend code for “hot guy up ahead”, but she had stopped to tie her shoes. And when I turned back around, it was too late.

I smacked into him — hard — and fell to the pavement, rolling a bit to soften the fall. He cursed and I groaned, more from embarrassment than pain. I wish I could say I gracefully picked myself up, smiled radiantly, and asked him for his number, but the truth is I lost the ability to do anything the minute I looked up at him.

It was an unfamiliar, warm ache that spread through my chest as I used my hand to shield the sun streaming in behind his silhouette, just how you’d expect the first sip of whiskey to feel. He was bent over, hand outstretched, saying something that wasn’t registering because I had somehow managed to slip my hand into his and just that one touch had set my skin on fire.

Handsome wasn’t the right word to describe him, but it was all I kept thinking as I traced his features. His hair was a sort of mocha color, damp at the roots, falling onto his forehead just slightly. His eyes were wide — almost too round — and a mixture of gold, green, and the deepest brown. I didn’t coin the nickname Whiskey until much later, but it was that moment that I saw it for the first time — those were whiskey eyes. The kind of eyes you get lost in. The kind that drink you in. He had the longest lashes and a firm, square jaw. It was so hard, the edges so clean that I would have sworn he was angry with me if it weren’t for the smile on his face.He was still talking as my eyes fell over his broad chest before snapping back up to his sideways grin.

“Oh my God, are you fucking blind?!” Jenna’s voice snapped me from my haze as she shoved Whiskey out of the way and latched onto my hand, ripping me back to standing position. I’d barely caught my balance before she whipped around to continue her scolding. “How about you brush that long ass hair out of your eyes and watch where you’re going, huh champ?”

Oh no.

I didn’t even have time to call dibs, I couldn’t even think the word, let alone say it, before it was too late. I watched it, in slow motion, as Whiskey fell for my best friend before I even had the chance to say a single word to him.

Jenna was standing tall, arms crossed, one hip popped in her usual fashion as she waited for him to defend himself. This was her protocol — it was one of the reasons we got along. We were both what you’d call “spitfires”, but Jenna had the distinct advantage of being cripplingly gorgeous on top of having an attitude. She flipped her long, wavy blonde ponytail behind her and cocked a brow.

And then he did, too.

His smile grew wider as he met her eyes, and it was the same look I’d watched fall over guy after countless guy. Jenna was a unicorn, and men were enamored by her. As they should have been — she had platinum blonde hair, crystal blue eyes, legs for days and a personality to boot. Now, before you go thinking that I was the insecure best friend - I had it going on, too. I worked hard, I was talented - just not at the things traditional high school boys valued.

But we’ll get to that.

“Hi,” Whiskey finally said, extending his hand to Jenna this time. His eyes were warm, smile inviting — if I had to pick the right word for him, just one, I’d say charming. He just oozed charm. “I’m Jamie.”

“Well, Jamie, maybe you should make an appointment with the eye doctor before you run over another innocent jogger. And you owe Brecks an apology.” She nodded to me then and I cringed at my name, wondering why she felt the need to spill it at all. She always called me B — everyone did — so why did she choose the moment I was face to face with the first boy to ever make my heart accelerate to use my full name?

Jamie was still grinning, eyeing Jenna, trying to figure her out, but he turned to me after a moment with that same crooked smile. “I’m sorry, I should have been watching where I was going.” He said the words with conviction, but lifted his brows on that last line because he and I both knew who wasn’t paying attention to the trail, and he wasn’t the guilty party.

“It’s fine,” I murmured, because for some reason I was still having a difficult time finding my voice. Jamie tilted his head just a fraction, his eyes hard on me this time, and I felt naked beneath his gaze. I’d never had anyone look at me that way — completely zeroed in. It was unnerving and exhilarating, too.

But before I could latch onto the feeling, he turned back to Jenna, their eyes meeting as slow smiles spread on both of their faces. I’d seen it a million times, but this was the first time I felt sick watching it happen.

I saw him first, but it didn’t matter.

Because he saw her.

Kandi Steiner is a Creative Writing and Advertising/Public Relations graduate from the University of Central Florida living in Tampa with her husband. Kandi works full time as a social media specialist, but also works part time as a Zumba fitness instructor and blackjack dealer.

Kandi started writing back in the 4th grade after reading the first Harry Potter installment. In 6th grade, she wrote and edited her own newspaper and distributed to her classmates. Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her “freedom of press.” She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a die hard hopeless romantic (like most girls brought up on Disney movies).

When Kandi isn’t working or writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, talking with her extremely vocal cat, and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoys beach days, movie marathons, live music, craft beer and sweet wine – not necessarily in that order.

Title: Wilder
Series: The Renegades #1 (Stand-alone)
Author: Rebecca Yarros
Release Date: Sep 19, 2016!

He’s Paxton Wilder.
Twenty-two-year-old, tattooed, smoking-hot leader of the Renegades.
Five time X Games medalist.
The world is his playground—especially this year—and for the next nine months I’m stuck as his tutor on the Study at Sea program.
He’s too busy staging worldwide stunts for his documentary to get to class.
But if I can’t get him to take academics seriously, I’ll lose my scholarship…if I don’t lose my heart first.
To be completely honest with you, I was not expecting to love this book the way that I did. I don't know why my expectations weren't crazy high, but I just didn't go into Wilder thinking it could be one of my most FAVORITE reads of the year! But man, was I wrong. I was blown away. And even now, days after finishing, I'm still getting full body shivers at just the thought of these characters. I'm telling you, this is one of those books you just DON'T SEE COMING. It's one of those novels that sweeps you off your feet, totally BLOWING YOU AWAY. These characters are such a treat for the reader. They take charge and steal your attention completely.

Heart, sizzle, feels and so much swoon, Wilder is a unique, refreshing, charming, suspenseful, sexy and addicting ride. A full-on "on the edge of your seat" read. Once I opened the novel and started reading, I was DONE. I could not put it down. I didn't want to put it down. And when it was over, I was left GASPING, thinking, "WHOA. I FREAKING LOVED THAT!" An utter delight! It's everything you want in a read and more. The FULL PACKAGE from start to finish.

Impeccable writing.
Sexy, organic dialogue.
A fun, UNIQUE and captivating plot line that I have NEVER seen in a book.
And ALPHAS that leave you weak-kneed.

Just fantastic. I cannot say enough good things.

Paxton Wilder is a daredevil! A reckless, charming ladies man with a grin and a hardy dose of charisma that has the ladies swooning by the dozens. As the son of an extremely wealthy business man, the world is Pax's oyster, so to speak. He lives each moment to the fullest, taking all the risks he can with his team called The Renegades

The Renegades consist of Wilder (Paxton), Nova (Landon), Penna (Penelope) and Nick. They run a YouTube channel that showcases their wild tricks via motocross, skydiving, zip lining, etc etc. It's Nitro Circus on crack. And if it hasn't been done before, The Renegades want to try it. They're the most well known adrenaline junkies in the world and they have an extreme following!

Paxton's father, however, is set on Paxton finishing his last year of college. That's all he's asking of his son. So he buys a cruise ship, sets up a college, and The Renegades are placed on board the Athena for a year long study at sea program.

Leah (our leading lady) is brought in as Pax's tutor. He needs a little help. And if Pax doesn't pass his last year of schooling, his father will pull funding for a documentary that he's desperate to make. But the moment that Pax lays eyes on Leah, it's interest and lust at first sight. She's not what he was expecting and he likes that. She's a challenge. One he wants to conquer!

Leah is excited for this year abroad. She was supposed to go on the trip with her friend Rachel, but Rachel is out sick with mono for the next 3 months, so Leah is on her own and this opportunity is one she could not pass it up! However, the moment she lays eyes on Paxton Wilder, she can sense trouble. And she knows she needs to be careful, or else the upcoming months are going to be a little more than interesting.

Paxton and Leah have a chemistry that literally burns the pages of your kindle. The two of them are down right intoxicating. Like I said above, once you start reading, you cannot stop. Every page, every word, gets better and better and better. You almost can't believe how much, how deep, and how far you're falling! It's a wild, thrilling and heart tugging ride that you want to last forever. These characters are charming, endearing, and captivating.

I truly fell in love with this book. With the unique story line. The pacing. The writing. The dynamic between the characters. The dialogue. The steamy scenes. With just every single thing. I wasn't expecting it. I wasn't expecting to be completely and utterly blown away! But I am. I was. And it is no doubt one of my FAVORITES for 2016I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.

Angie's Rating:

She is the author of the Flight & Glory series, including Full Measures, the award-winning Eyes Turned Skyward, Beyond What is Given, and Hallowed Ground. She loves military heroes, and has been blissfully married to hers for fourteen years.

When she’s not writing, she’s tying hockey skates for her four sons, sneaking in some guitar time, or watching brat-pack movies with her two daughters. She lives in Colorado with the hottest Apache pilot ever, their rambunctious gaggle of kids, an English bulldog who is more stubborn than sweet, and a bunny named General Fluffy Pants who torments the aforementioned bulldog. They recently adopted their youngest daughter from the foster system, and Rebecca is passionate about helping others do the same.

Title: Secret Sins
Series: Standalone
Author: CD Reiss
Release Date: Sep 18, 2016!

A brand new, edgy, sexy standalone from CD Reiss.
Her name is Cinnamon. Cin for short. Band mates Strat and Indy don’t know anything about her except she’s smart as hell and sexy as heaven. They can’t agree who gets her, so they do the only thing two best friends could do. They declare her off limits to both of them.

Her family is her problem. Her friends. And the world-famous blues rocker who has her cornered. He’s her problem too.
This may be one problem she can’t fix without some help.
Secret Sins is a standalone novel with an HEA, an edge just where you need it, and a shocking twist at the end. It’s recommended for people over the age of 18 with an open mind and a love of super hot stories.
This was my reaction upon finishing Secret Sins...

I'm .... I'm sorry, what?! What! WHAT! WHAT! WHAT! WHAT! WHAT! WHATTTTTTTTT!!!! ****screams****
That is SHOCKING!
That is... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Omg! I can't take it. I can't. :::freaks out::: I DIDN'T SEE IT. EVER. AT ALL. NOT ONCE. I NEVER SAW THAT COMING! Omg! I am so stunned. Did that just happen?
I'm so shocked. Hahaha! I feel like I have to go back to the beginning and read Secret Sins again, because I can't believe what I just read! WHAT THE FRIGGIN WHAT ::gasp::"

This book has a twist that I NEVER. EVER. AT ANY POINT saw coming. It was truly shocking. I had to go back and read several pages again just to make sure I was reading everything right. Secret Sins is a scandalous, shocking addition to the Drazen storyline. It will leave you gasping, dying, on the edge of your seat, crying, "NO WAY... NO FREAKING WAY. THAT IS UNREAL!'

Now... if you know me, you know that I am a HUGE CD Reiss fangirl. My passionate affair with her books started when I read the Songs of Submission series. I absolutely LOST MY MIND over Jonathan Drazen.

The dynamic of the Drazen bunch is complex, compelling and beyond intriguing. The way each of them functions has me hooked. I'm addicted. Each character is distinct in personality. They all pull you in even when you don't think you'll care. And that was me with Margie Drazen's story. To be honest, I saw that this was her book and I thought, "Ugh... I don't know. I don't know if her story is going to be an "Angie" story." I was hesitant about it. Not because I didn't think that CD Reiss could write a good story for her. CLEARLY, she can, she did, and I have 100% faith in her unending talent (which is why I read the book), but because it was Margie. Margie Drazen has always seemed like she had all her stuff together. So what could be so great about her?

WELP... **laughs in disbelief** LET ME TELL YOU.

This was a whirlwind. I'm still processing. I still can't believe what I read. I'm still like, "WHAT THE WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT!" It's so stunning, because I just never saw it coming. I just never saw this. And I can't help but delight in this little wicked web that CD Reiss has crafted. God, I want to say so much to you about it, but I'm going to say nothing. NOTHING except...

GO read.

If you are a fan of the Drazen bunch, this is going to burn through you like a wild fire. You are going to be DYING over this twist! If you have NOT met the Drazen's, I still think you are going to be left with your jaw hanging open and your eyes double blinking in SHOCK.

And of course the writing is supreme, far above the rest. CD Reiss remains the Queen of my little heart. ALWAYS. AND FOREVER. THE END.

My Rating:

CD Reiss is a USA Today and Amazon bestseller. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn't pick up, she's at the well, hauling buckets.

Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master's degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere, but it did give her a big enough ego to write novels.

Critics have dubbed the books "poetic," "literary," and "hauntingly atmospheric," which is flattering enough for her to put it in a bio, but embarrassing enough for her not to tell her husband, or he might think she's some sort of braggart who's too good to chop a cord of wood.

If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.

Title: Change of Heart
Series: Fostering Love #2 - Standalone
Author: Nicole Jacquelyn
Release Date: Sep 6, 2016

They've spent their lives pushing each other away, but what will happen when they need each other most?
Anita Martin doesn't expect much from life. Growing up on the street, bouncing from one foster home to another, she learned to rely only on herself. Even after she finally found a loving family to take her in, she was still an outsider-something Abraham, one of the family's older sons, never let her forget.
Abraham Evans doesn't know how Ani always manages to get under his skin, only that's she's been doing it since they were teens. She is-and always has been-undeniably gorgeous. But he's never met anyone as pissed off at the world as Ani.
For fifteen years, Ani and Bram have agreed on exactly one thing: they can't stand each other-until one night when their anger gives way to passion. Yet even as Ani and Bram begin to secretly seek comfort in one another's arms, they remain emotionally worlds apart. When Ani's life takes a dramatic turn and she realizes she needs more than Bram can give, their fragile, no-strings relationship unravels. One way or another, Ani is determined to survive. But when Bram finally admits his true feelings, he may discover Ani has moved on without him . . .
Change of Heart was one of my most anticipated reads of the year. Hands down. Especially after reading Unbreak my Heart. I could barely breathe when I finished Shane and Katie's story. It was turbulent, yet phenomenal. Beyond phenomenal. So I knew, without a shadow of a doubt, that I would be reading about Ani and Bram the moment it was in my hands. And let me tell you, it was FANTASTIC!

This series, as a whole, is intoxicating. Each book is a stand-alone novel, about a new couple. That said, I really think you should read them in order, not because you'll get spoilers if you don't, (you won't they are perfect stand-alones) but because I think it's the perfect way to get the full feel for this family. Because that's what these books are really about! FAMILY. Not by blood (even though some are related) but chosen family. They have all chosen each other and it's incredible. The way they support one another is beyond heartwarming.

I love the dynamic between these characters. It's what set this series apart. Each one has such a distinct and captivating voice. Nicole Jacquelyn is a brilliant writer who brings them to life vividly. It feels so real and it hurts so good. Raw, unfiltered, authentic, these characters have touched my heart completely. Honestly, Anita and Bram's story was everything I thought it would be. Highly emotional, turbulent, addicting, heart wrenching. Absolutely perfect! I'm so impressed with this series and this author, and I'm hoping that there's more to come!

Anita and Abraham (aka, Ani and Bram) have had a love/hate relationship forever! They get a thrill out of getting a rise out of each other. And they're pretty shameless about doing it. There is nothing that Ani and Bram can't turn into an argument. They're fire and ice, oil and vinegar! But one night Ani decides to follow Bram as he leaves family dinner and they end up tangled in ways they never saw coming.

This story is as sweet as it is painful. I wish I could give you a run down of all my favorite things about it, but that would be crazy spoilers. Just know this, it's going to give you the same buzz that Shane and Katie's book did. It's not as intense, not as volatile and insane, but it's definitely compelling, captivating and addicting. It's a one sitting read. You'll cry. You'll smile. You'll swoon. And you'll be thinking about it for days after. Really, a fabulous addition to a series I more than recommend.

My Rating:

When I read a book that I plan to review, I typically stop reading the book periodically to take some notes, to highlight, to jot down my thoughts that'll eventually make their way into my review. While reading Change of Heart, I did none of that. I devoured this book so hungrily, so feverishly, I didn't even stop to think. I finished it last night, and honestly, I still haven't stopped to think. All I can see are these characters and this brutally beautiful journey they took, the heated words they flung back and forth, the pulse pounding chemistry that exists been them, the completely tumultuous, unexpected course of events they took me through in this extraordinary story and I'm left without words. I don't even know what to say other than I loved this book so much and I'd rather be rereading it right now than attempting to write a well thought out review. But, alas, I'm going to try...
So, when I first read the blurb for Change of Heart, I thought it was about characters I'd never met before. Unbreak My Heart was one of my top favorite reads of 2016, probably one of my top favorite reads EVER. Shane and Katie's story completely blew me away in all the ways I love to be taken by a book. But I didn't remember Anita or Bram anywhere in that book. As soon as I started reading Change of Heart, it came back to me that both Shane and Katie came from big interconnected families that'd lived next door to each other, families comprised of biological siblings, adopted children, and foster kids. Bram and Anita of Unbreak My Heart are two of those kids and their story may have just bumped Shane and Katie's as my favorite Nicole Jacquelyn book ever, as my top favorite book of the year. Now that my memory has been refreshed on this large, colorful extended family, I can assure you I'll never forget them again. I'm also going to beg and plead that every single member of this family get their own story because I'm in love with all of them, and I just can't let them go.

I could speak for days about Nicole Jacquelyn's character development alone. The layers that make up these personalities, the meticulously crafted characterization confounded by their every word, every behavior, every emotion is just so devastatingly perfect. Anita is a heroine the likes of which I've never read. She's a small woman with a loud, abrasive personality, she's combative, she's hard around the edges and soft at her core. Bram is... Bram. Bram may have just become one of my most favorite leading men EVER. I don't even know where to begin with Bram. Every word out of his mouth, every bit of angry dialogue, every ounce of brokenness, every bit of the raw emotion he tries to hide behind this rough exterior, I CANNOT GET ENOUGH. The dynamic between these characters, I honestly just don't even want to try to describe it because I want every reader to experience them the way I did. From the first page, I was consumed by them. The pacing Jacquelyn crafts in their story is just spot on. Every single word on every single page is perfectly placed there to build an unforgettable, solid story and I don't think I could have loved it any more.

Change of Heart is the full package. I laughed. I cried large, ugly tears. My heart overflowed with joy, with anger, with frustration, with grief, with hope. I felt everything. Change of Heart is so many things: a sexy, angsty romance, a captivating family drama, a story of healing and acceptance. This book is an ode to our armed services and the sacrifices of their families and it really struck a chord with me, reminding me to appreciate those men and women more than I already do. It's a celebration of adoption and fostering and parenting and the bonds that make a family. It's as much of a heartwarming comfort read as it is a steamy romance. It's a messy, emotional, steamy love story that I want to relive again and again. But most importantly for a reader like myself, it's authentic. The authenticity and the honesty in this storyline and these characters is what has me so ensnared, it's what made me fall so deeply in love with every bit of this book. Nothing about Change of Heart felt contrived or flowery or forced. It's a wholly natural progression, such an honest portrayal of humanism and their reactions and emotions, and I will never forget it. I don't want to. Change of Heart is one of my top favorite reads of 2016, one of my favorite books EVER, and I can't wait to reread it again and again.

“Shut up,” I bitched, letting go of his back with one hand so I could grip his hair in my hand. “Please, just—” My words cut off on a strangled groan as he shifted and slid a finger inside me. No build up. No hesitance.

“Damn, you’re tiny everywhere,” Bram stuttered in surprise, making me chuckle then gasp.

“Pants,” I said frantically, my hips moving against his hand as my mind blanked. “Pants. Off.”

My hands went to his jeans, and he sighed against my face as I rubbed my hand down the length of him.

“I’m so hard, not sure if I can get them off,” he said half-seriously, pulling his finger from me in a slow glide.

“I have an exacto knife in the console,” I whispered back, our hands tangling as we pulled at his jeans.

“You’re not getting anywhere near my junk with a knife,” he hissed back, moaning as his jeans finally loosened and he pushed them down his hips.

“Commando?” I muttered as my hands hit warm skin.

“Need to do laundry.”

I laughed lightly as he leaned back to sit on his heels, grabbed his wallet out of his pocket, and pulled out a condom.

“Hurry,” I murmured as I reached down and wrapped my hand around his dick. Holy shit. Bram was packing. My lips turned up in a grin. “We’re working on borrowed time here.”

Bram’s head snapped up as he rolled on the condom, and he looked out the windows, making sure no one was nearby. “Shit.”

He looked down at me, then up at the windows, then down at me again before gripping my hips and yanking my lower body up so high that most of my weight was resting at the tops of my shoulders.

“What the—”

I let out a high pitched sound that I’m pretty sure I’d never made before in my life when his head dropped between my thighs and his mouth opened wide over my pussy. His beard rubbed softly against my thighs and the undersides of my ass cheeks, and I shuddered.

“Oh my God,” I mumbled squeezing my eyes closed as his tongue licked up my center, curling around my clit. The wet sound of his mouth opening and closing and licking and sucking filled the SUV, partnered with his groans and my heaving breaths.

At first, it just felt really, really good, but then, he focused in, rubbing over and over my clit with his tongue, bringing me closer and closer to orgasm. My body locked, and I clenched my teeth against the urge to scream.

Then he stopped and lowered my hips back down.

“No, no!” I lifted my hips frantically against his hands, “Don’t stop!”

“Shhh,” Bram murmured, coming down on top of me as I slapped at his shoulders. “Knock it off, Ani.”

I froze at the raspy sound of my name on his lips.

“You’re small,” he murmured, lifting my knee high until it was wedged between his arm and my ribs.

He pressed against me slowly, and my entire body relaxed to let him in. I rolled my hips slightly as he moved, and he pulled back out a fraction before pushing forward again. Doing it over and over until our bodies were completely locked together.

Wiping a hand over his beard, he shuddered, then leaned down to kiss me sweetly. “If I woulda waited until you came, you’d be too tight for me to get inside,” he said with a soft chuckle. “This way’s better.”

Then he began to move, shifting his hips just barely back and forth as he ground his pelvic bone against my clit.

My nails dug into his back as he pushed up until his arms were fully extended and looked down to watch my face. I didn’t know what expression I was making, and for a split second, it bothered me that he was watching me so intently, but then it began to build again. Faster and harder than before.

My muscles began to tighten and flex, and unable to control it, my leg that he’d been pressing up into his side shot straight down, my thighs wrapping around his hips like a vice as I came, making the fit of him inside me even more snug.

“Holy shit.” He snapped his hips forward hard as I pulsed around him, pulling back quickly and shoving forward again, over and over until my muscles went limp.

“Knees up,” he murmured frantically, leaning back to grip my jelly-like legs beneath my knees. He pressed them to my chest and then began to really move, pulling out almost completely and sliding back in hard three or four times before his movements went clumsy and he jerked, groaning deep in his throat.

He fell down to his elbows above me and rested his lips against my shoulder as we each caught our breath.

But as my breathing slowed, my heart began to pound.

What the hell did we just do?

Title: Run To You
Series: Risking it All #1 - Standalone
Author: Rachel Lacey
Release Date: August 30, 2016!

Moments after meeting the most gorgeous guy ever, Gabby Winters promptly gets stung by a zillion yellowjackets and falls-not gracefully-into a stream. Yup, Ethan Hunter is trouble with a capital "hot," and Gabby definitely needs to keep her distance. Except in the small town of Haven, there's nowhere to hide from Ethan's sexy, infectious grin . . . and all the residents are conspiring against her.
At the center of the town's matchmaking is Ethan's grandmother, who's convinced their relationship is a done deal. Rather than break her heart, Gabby and Ethan find themselves cornered into pretending to be falling in love. The problem: there's serious sizzling attraction between them. And if this charade continues, they won't fool just the entire town - they might fool themselves too . . .
Run to You by Rachel Lacey is a fast paced, heartwarming romance that I really liked. It was my first read by this author and once I started, I couldn't put it down. I instantly loved the characters, the small town feel, and the steamy build that Ethan and Gabby had going on. It was good! Really good! The writing was great. The plot was sweet. The characters even sweeter. And overall this was a pleasing, fun read.

Gabby is spending time (the summer) in the town of Haven. She needed an escape after a brutal break up that left her living with her parents! Actually, she just needed a "life" break. Time to figure out who she is and what she wants. She's rented a house in Haven, and as a gaming code writer, she's able to take the time without worrying too much.

Ethan is about to open a business called Off-the-Grid Adventures! It's an extreme sports facility that would offer zip lining, rock climbing etc etc. He's a man with a plan. And that plan includes his friends Ryan and Mark. They are all in business together.

Ethan and Gabby meet when Gabby accidentally wonders onto Ethan's property. Unfortunately the meeting is less than graceful as Gabby is in the process of being stung by a nest of Yellow Jackets. But Ethan Hunter has been living in the town of Haven forever, he knows the outdoors well, and he comes to Gabby's rescue easily. It really is a very cute set up to a first meeting.

From there, Ethan and Gabby take off (with the help of Ethan's matchmaking Grandma, Dixie, of course)! And things become complicated in ways they never expected.

Run To You is addicting. A sweet romance that is PERFECT for a lazy Sunday or even an afternoon at the pool. The feels are sweet. The characters fun. And the story line is heart tugging. Ethan is the perfect alpha hero -- sexy and easy going, but under all that is a man who is hiding from the world. And Gabby .. well, she finds so much more than just herself in Haven.

Overall, like I said, I really liked it. Quick. Easy. Good.  I would absolutely recommended it to those looking for a happy read.

My Rating:

“I’m glad you brought me out here.” Gabby stepped over a tree root, lifting her skirt with her free hand so that she didn’t trip.

Ethan squeezed her left hand. “Me, too. The rock face is right up this way.”

They came around a corner and the path opened up to a big rock looming at least thirty feet into the air. There were some creases and cracks in it, but how anyone could scale it with only their bare hands—or why they would want to—was completely beyond her. “You can seriously climb that?”

“I can climb it. Ryan can kick its ass, though.”

“Okay then. Show me.”

With a cocky grin, he reached up and hooked his hand into a crack in the rock. He pulled himself up, his biceps flexing most impressively as he climbed. Holy shit, that was sexy. Soon she was left with nothing but a view of his very fine ass. And by the time he’d reached the top, she was so turned on, she could hardly stand it.

“So?” he called from the top. “You going to join me or what?”

“Not a chance. But I will enjoy watching you climb back down.”

“Gotta give the lady what she wants.” His fine ass reappeared over the edge as he started back down. He took his time on the descent, and if she wasn’t mistaken, he might have reached for a few hand and footholds that made him flex his muscles a little more than was strictly necessary.

“You’re a show-off,” she said when his feet were back on solid ground.

He was a bit out of breath, his bronzed skin glistening with sweat, trademark smile still in place. “No clue what you’re talking about.”

“No? You really needed to reach all the way to that notch?” She gestured above them. “Instead of the one closer to your shoulder that maybe wouldn’t have shown off your lovely biceps quite as well?”

He flexed for her. “What, these old things? And for the record, I totally needed the leverage.”

“Mm-hmm.” For some reason, she put her hand on his biceps, and oh crap, that was a mistake. His skin was hot beneath her fingers, and his blue eyes blazed into hers.

“Killing me, Gabby,” he murmured. “Killing me.”

His words sent a bolt of red-hot desire right through her, and she must have made a sound because Ethan sucked in a breath, his gaze locked on her lips. His hands settled on her hips, burning into her skin through the thin fabric of her skirt.

Rachel Lacey is a contemporary romance author and semi-reformed travel junkie. She's been climbed by a monkey on a mountain in Japan, gone scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef, and camped out overnight in New York City for a chance to be an extra in a movie. These days, the majority of her adventures take place on the pages of the books she writes. She lives in warm and sunny North Carolina with her husband, son, and a variety of rescue pets.
