Andrea Anderson has no clue of the thoughts churning around in the dark and dangerous ex-con’s head as he enters her classroom. In fact, she’s momentarily lost for words. Not in her entire teaching career has she had a student who looked quite like Stu Cross.
A widow at just twenty-eight, love is something Andie hasn’t considered a part of her life for a very long time. However, when lingering touches turn to whispered words and hot, searching stares, she begins to wonder if maybe she should take a leap of faith.
But Stu is in her class for a reason, and it has nothing to do with love. He’s there to burrow his way into her life and repay a debt, otherwise his family will suffer. Andie is the first person to show him true kindness since he left prison, and though he doesn’t want to mislead her, he doesn’t have another choice.
Before long, Stu can’t tell whether or not he’s acting anymore, and his feelings for Andie could throw all of his carefully crafted plans into complete and utter disarray.
**Can be read as a stand-alone.
LH Cosway is one of my all-time favorite authors and everything about Thief of Hearts demonstrates exactly why that is. Thief of Hearts is a superbly written, incredibly complex, deliciously sexy, unpredictable romance I absolutely loved. This is a teacher student romance where the teacher, Andrea Anderson, is a young, struggling widow teaching adults seeking their GED, and the student, Stu Cross, is a just released ex con taking Andrea's class as a condition of his parole. This story is layered with deception and angst, sexual tension, a bit of suspense, a colorful cast of characters and an unforgettable romance unlike any other. Thief of Hearts is the full package, a perfectly beautiful romance that I never wanted to end.

Stu Cross has made several appearances throughout this series and each time, I've always visualized him as this smarmy, cunning street criminal, a guy that didn't care to get his life together, to be better than the circumstances he grew up in. I always thought he was a bit dirty. A bit simple. A bit slick. He was the guy you didn't want your heroine to fall for. But with Thief of Hearts, LH Cosway did what LH Cosway does and she made me question everything. She brought this character through such a transformation, such growth, that I fell for Stu in a way I haven't fallen for any of the other men throughout this series. Stu became this deliciously sexy, swoony man who was such a different man from anything he appeared to be in previous books. Until he wasn't. This story is rife with twists and turns, curveballs that gave me whiplash, and a yo-yo of a romance that had me hungrily turning the pages.

"I was a teacher. I was a widow. I’d loved one man with all my heart , and I’d lost him. I’d thought that love was enough for one lifetime, as if that part of me was done. But now, everything was changing."

Andrea is such a beautiful character. She's a caregiver by nature. She sees the good in people. She's a fixer. And her attraction to her newest student in conjunction with his reluctance to learn, to grow, to believe in himself, is the gasoline on the flame that sets they story ablaze. The chemistry between Stu and Andrea is explosive, forbidden, laced with deceit and secrecy. The push and pull, the two steps forward one step back nature of this dynamic is everything I love in a good romance novel. The angst, the authentic conflict, the relentless barrage of heartbreak mixed with sensuality. It's just so well done in this book.

"People like you give people like me a soft place to fall. Otherwise we’d just be cold and hard. That’s how I was before I met you."

The entire concept behind what brings Stu and Andrea together, the truth along with the guise, it was just brilliant. Everything about this story is just brilliant. There are moments in this book that I'll replay in my mind as some of the most romantic scenes I've ever read. Everything from the dialogue, to the superb development of these magnetic characters, to the pace and flow of this storyline, to the unbelievably sexy scenes, it's just perfection. Delicious, unforgettable perfection.
