From New York Times bestselling author, Penelope Ward, comes a sexy, STANDALONE second-chance romance.
They called him Mack Daddy. No, seriously, his name was Mack. Short for Mackenzie. Thus, the nickname. Perfect, right?
So was he: perfect. The perfect physical male specimen.
At the private school where I taught, Mack Morrison was the only man around in a sea of women.
Everyone wanted a piece of the hot single father of the sweet little boy.
I was riddled with jealousy, because they didn’t know that—to me—he was much more.
They didn’t know about our past.
He’d chosen my school for his son on purpose, because Mack and I, we had unfinished business.
As my friend Lorelai so eloquently put it: “Unfinished business between two people who are clearly attracted to each other is like an eternal case of blue balls.” And I was suffering in pain from my case.
I was still intensely attracted to Mack. I tried to resist him, immersing myself further into a relationship with another man just to protect my heart.
Not to mention, getting involved with a parent was strictly against school rules. But seeing Mack day in and day out was breaking me down.
And soon I might be breaking all the rules.
Author's note – Told in alternating points of view, Mack Daddy is a full-length standalone novel.

HOLY ANGST-FEST! First off, I was not expecting this to be the angsty delight that it was. I went into Mack Daddy with the forthought that it was going to be light and sexy and man, WAS I EVER WRONG. Sure, it was DEFINITELY sexy, but it was not light. It was intense on the feels and also, really, really, really full of "tummy tightening, OMG, I can't read this, but I need to know what's going to happen" moments. I think the fact that I was initially expecting low angst, and ended up with  heart aching, tummy twirling goodness was more than pleasantly surprising. (Though, all that said, I don't know why I was expecting no angst.... (LOLOLOL) this is, after all, Penelope Ward we are talking about.)

But yeah, rambling aside, Mack Daddy was FANTASTIC. It lured me in right from the opening lines and didn't let me go until the end. I loved the dynamic between the main characters, the slow burn and almost torturous way that their love story unfolded. It was intoxicating and steamy and agonizing (in the very best way) and just decadent. Penelope Ward knows how to write sexiness and chemistry with all the feels. And this was completely fantastic.

Mack Daddy starts with Frankie (who's a first grade teacher) starting a new school year and finding out that Mack's son is in her class. Mack and Frankie go way back and have tons and tons of history and Frankie's completely blindsided by Mack being in her school, in her classroom, on opening day. Mack is the only man who has ever broken Frankie's heart and they haven't spoken in years.

Mack, though, is living with some deep regrets. And when he shows up for Frankie, he's there for two specific things:

1. He believes that Frankie is the only one who can take care of his son. His son Jonah suffers from anxiety, and so does Frankie.
And 2. Mack regrets the choices he made in the past and he is HELL BENT on fixing them and getting Frankie back.

The only problem with that is that Frankie and Mack's friendship ended more poorly and of course, they've spent years apart, so so much has changed with them as people. If Mack wants Frankie back he has a LOT of work to do to even get her in a friend capacity.

And so, we follow along as Mack and Frankie traverse the MANY MANY MANY obstacles in their path. And let me tell you...

A. N. G. S. T. Y!

I mean, God. My stomach was hurting. The past and present chapters in Mack Daddy had me on the edge of my seat. I never knew what these two were going to do and I was enthralled by the way the story was told. This book flowed flawlessly and I really fell in love with Mack and his love for Frankie.

Overall, I though this was a fantastic read full of heart and steamy goodness. I LOVED that Penelope wrote a single dad story. It was different for me and it made me LOVE Mack all the more. This was a SOLID read, and certainly one that angst lovers will eat up. Just fantastic.
